Our DLC is designed to empower people with intellectual disability to navigate the digital world and to stay connected in a safe manner when communicating online. The course can also be used by parents and guardians to guide minor children, who engage on social media platforms, about online communication.

How to register for the Digital Literacy Course, Basics of WhatsApp.
- On the internet type in www.wcfid.co.za
- At the top right hand corner click on the Learning Hub button.
- This takes you to the course.
- Click the register button on the bottom left corner.
- This will take you to a registration form.
- Complete the form and make the payment to the WCFID.
- Wait 24 to 48 hours for an email from the WCFID with your login details and instructions on how to use the course.
- Should you not receive any response within 48 hours, email trainer@wcfid.co.za

The DLC does not replace the existing policies of social media companies, nor does the WCFID encourage or discourage communication on social media platforms. The information in the DLC, the Basics of WhatsApp and accompanying Supporters Guide, is intended to make learning the basics of social media (based on needs expressed by participants during a pilot project) available in a manner that is accessible to people with intellectual disability and, if applicable, their respective supporters.
